Recertification Coordinator Position Available. 

Overview:

NHA is looking for a full-time Recertification Coordinator to assist our residents and help us fulfill our mission of providing safe and affordable housing. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals and families in need. This is a full-time position located in the Neodesha Housing Authority office, with some travel throughout the region. The position is responsible for providing Public Housing rental assistance for eligible applicants and tenant management in the Neodesha area. The ideal candidate will have experience in Public Housing, HUD guidelines, and possess knowledge of Fair Housing Regulations, but not required. This is a non-exempt hourly wage position. Hourly rate will comply with resolutions implemented by NHA with an annual rate of $27,040 to $49,920 depending on qualifications. Wages

This is a non-exempt hourly wage position. Hourly rate will comply with resolutions implemented by NHA with an annual rate of $27,040 to $49,920 depending on qualifications.

 

Education/Experience

Associates degree in business, public administration or related field preferred but not required; OR high school diploma or equivalent, plus 2 years demonstrated performance in public housing assistance programs or other social services programs with low-income client base preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

 

Requirements

Must live in or within a 25 mile radius of Neodesha Housing Authority office

 

Knowledge of general office equipment required

 

Knowledge of use of PC in a windows-based environment and windows office applications required

 

Availability to work evenings and/or weekend hours on occasion when on an on-call status

 

Occasional overnight travel

 

Ability to sit, stand and walk up to 100% of the time

 

Ability to type up to 100% of the time

 

Ability to reach, climb ladder, stoop, squat, push, pull up to 90% of the time

 

Ability to move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 90% of the time

Essential duties and responsibilities:

This is a full-time position located in the Neodesha Housing Authority office, with some travel throughout the region. The position is responsible for providing Public Housing rental assistance for eligible applicants and tenant management in the Neodesha area. The ideal candidate will have experience in Public Housing, HUD guidelines, and possess knowledge of Fair Housing Regulations, but not required.

 

The position duties and responsibilities listed below describe the general nature and scope of work. Other responsibilities, duties, and skills may be required and assigned, as needed.

 

Maintain accounts receivable from public housing clients

Accept and process public housing applications in a timely manner

 

Complete references for past and present clients

 

Respond to calls, written requests, and emails from participants, service providers and other authorized agencies and representatives

 

Assist authority staff to recruit participants, network with public and private community agencies to provide resources for public housing clients as needed.

 

Conduct annual re-examination interviews; receives interim re-determination requests for public housing participants as assigned, verifies, analyzes, and enters information into systems; prepares contracts and issues appropriate letters to tenants as assigned.

 

Conducts in depth interviews/discussions with public housing participants to determine eligibility of applicants and/or assess and identifies service needs of program participants.

 

Maintain contact with community agencies for the provision of services for clients

 

Maintains tenant files within database while adhering to strict privacy policies

 

Calculates back charges as needed for overpayment of rental assistance, verifies income, and recalculates appropriate rental obligations

 

Investigates and reports all suspected false and fraudulent information

 

Performs annual and interim recertification to ensure eligibility has been properly maintained in accordance with HUD and Authority policies and procedures, ensures that all requirements for written independent verification of information are met in an appropriate and timely manner

 

Prepares housing assistance packets and communicates effectively with program participants and appropriate filing of executed contracts and lease

 

Maintains appropriate filed and records in an accurate and timely manner with direction from the Executive Director

 

Manage waiting list in accordance with HUD and Fair Housing guidelines.

 

Recommend termination of program participants who fail to comply with re-examination deadlines or for participant over income requirements and participants who violation program obligations/responsibilities

 

Insures that all re-examinations are completed prior to expiration of participant’s leases and notifications mailed 30 days in advance

 

Determined need for interim rent changes and completes all established and required processing procedures

 

Processes requests for maintenance work orders

 

Ability to maintain files in alphabetical, numerical, and chronological order as applicable

 

File paperwork on a daily basis

 

Review, evaluate and submit all correspondence daily, weekly and monthly

 

Review and respond to emails and phone calls daily

 

Must clearly understand all aspects of the ever changing polices and procedures of HUD and NHA including the admissions and continued occupancy policies and HUD regulations. Must have the ability to effectively communicate this to applicants and visitors

 

Ability to make mathematical computations and compile statistical data and prepare reports

 

Ability to deescalate conflict in a calm and effective manner

 

 

Additional responsibilities

May assist with special projects

 

May work evenings and/or weekend hours on occasion

 

Perform other duties as required or assigned

 

Management of public rental space located within the office

 

Working conditions

Work is performed in an office setting amid normal conditions of dust, odors, fumes and noises and involves considerable public contact.

 

Frequent exposure to computer and screen for extended periods of time and occasional exposure to the weather (rain, snow, extreme heat and cold) when showing units or making home visits.

 

Frequent exposure to public that may produce temporary strong odors

 

The noise level in the work environment can reach up to moderate levels
